Special Delivery

I love everything about babies: their cute little feet, their sweet smell (well  . . . mostly sweet), their tiny little clothes and shoes, and the list goes on and on. Since having my own baby eight months ago, I think I have had “baby on the mind” day and night.

So when I started looking at the Sent with Love Designer Series Paper and Sent with Love Stamp Set, I narrowed right in on the “Special Delivery” theme and thought: baby! I have a few friends who are expecting their own “special delivery” soon and I knew that these products would be perfect for baby-themed gifts.

When I give a baby gift, I like to create my own packaging using designs and colors that coordinate with the gift—to make the perfect total package. (I guess I don’t put too much stock in the saying “It’s what’s inside that matters.”)

Baby gifts tend to be small and cute, so creating a custom box was super-easy. I started with two 12" x 12" sheets of Pool Party Cardstock to create the base of the box. Using my new Stampin’ Trimmer made scoring and cutting the box slick. I loved, loved having a larger cutting area and being able to slide the blades out of the way while alternating from the scoring blade to the cutting blade.

After I made the box, the creative part started:  embellishing it. Using the Designer Series Paper, a bit of Calypso Coral Baker’s Twine, and the special delivery arrow from the stamp set, I was able to quickly personalize the box. Adding a tag was easy: I just cut out one of the tag images from the Designer Series Paper.  The hardest part about creating the box was deciding what Designer Series Paper I wanted to use—since many of the patterns worked well!
