I have a hankering for spring, so I made this banner in hopes that it will “spring” on good, warm weather. It was so quick and easy to make—just my kind of project!
All you need is the following:
Here are the dimensions for the flags and the pattern for the shape:
Cut the paper pattern to 4" x 6 ". From the top, put a pencil mark 1" down and 2" from the side. Cut from your mark diagonally to the top point of the paper. From the bottom, put pencil marks at 1" on each side and 2" on the bottom. Cut diagonally from the middle mark to the 1" marks on each side.
TIP: You can either mark each flag with your pencil, then cut. Or, cut one flag and use it as a template to cut the rest.
The MDS “Hello Spring” flag is a little different from the rest. Just cut the bottom pennant the same as you did the tops of the other flags, leaving the top of the piece as a straight cut.
I used my favorite font (Buttermilk) on the MDS flag and typed “Hello Spring” in Very Vanilla Digital Ink on Basic Black Digital Cardstock. Then I added a little stem from our Raining Flowers Stamp Brush Set and topped it off with a single flower from the Vanilla 5/8" Flower Trim.
To finish the banner, I punched out and adhered a few Fancy Flower shapes, added the cotton ribbon and buttons, threaded Linen Thread through the flags, and that was it!
TIP: I used a 1/16" Circle Punch to create holes, then threaded the Linen Thread through them. I didn’t want the Linen Thread to show behind the upper pennants, so I punched 1/4" in on each side and about 1-1/4" down from the top.
How will you decorate for spring?
