Valentine Chalkboard Wall

I have had this chalkboard wall in my kitchen for about 3-1/2 years now and I have had so much fun with it. Lots of times it is just empty and my daughter Lucy and her friends will fill it up with scribbles and pictures, but my most favorite is when I take the time to add something special to it for the season. MDS 2 is perfect for this!!!

Here’s how I did it.

I found an image on MDS2 that I wanted to transfer to my chalkboard wall. Here I used the Love More—Have You Heard Stamp Brush (using a vector image works best so that you can enlarge it as much as you want without pixelation). I saved the image on a USB drive, took it to Office Depot, and had them print it as large as possible (36" x 48"). The print cost $7.80.

When I got home, I taped the printout to my window with the right side facing out so that I could trace and fill in the back side of the image with chalk. I then taped it to my chalkboard wall (with the chalked side against the wall) and rubbed the image with my hand to get the chalk to transfer to the wall. Once it was transferred, I took the printout down and went over the transferred image with chalk to darken it up. I love, love, love it!  It makes such a statement—and for not a lot of money!

Tip: if you don’t have a chalkboard wall at home, don’t worry! Just find a large, inexpensive frame at a thrift store and paint the glass with chalkboard paint.
